How much does it cost?

Free for 30 days with your full library, no book limit, no card required. After that, a one-time $9.99 unlocks it forever. No subscription.

Is there a book limit on the free trial?

No. The trial is full-featured and unlimited; it's limited by time (30 days), not library size.

Which platforms are supported?

iOS and Android are launching together, both coming soon. Get notified at launch.

What file formats does it read?

EPUB and PDF, and both open right in CalibReader's built-in reader, with the same controls and no separate PDF app. MOBI is a legacy format and isn't supported directly, but Calibre can convert MOBI files to EPUB in a couple of clicks (right-click the book → Convert books → EPUB).

Do I need an account?

No accounts and no uploads to us. Your library lives in your own cloud folder (Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive) and is stored locally on your device for offline reading. You can also use CalibReader without a cloud library, just put all your books in a single folder on your device and choose the Local folder option (see Getting started).

What if my library is too large for my device?

CalibReader downloads your books for offline reading, so a very large collection can be more than a phone or tablet wants to hold. For now, the simplest approach is to sync a subset: keep a smaller, curated Calibre folder in your cloud (or point CalibReader at one) and prune what you carry by hand. Graceful in-app selection, picking exactly which books or shelves stay on each device, is on our roadmap.

Which sync providers work?

Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive today. Self-hosted (WebDAV/NAS) is coming soon. See Set up sync.

Can I use my own custom columns and choose what metadata shows?

Today CalibReader reads a specific set of Calibre custom columns (date downloaded, read status, and page count; see custom columns). Support for arbitrary custom columns, plus controls to show or hide individual metadata fields in the library views, are on our roadmap.

Is this made by the Calibre team?

No. CalibReader is an independent app and is not affiliated with calibre-ebook.com. "Calibre" is a trademark of Kovid Goyal.
